If I understand correctly you draw a lot of your sports art combining life drawing and photo reference? I like your direction on this one, going for expression and action to capture essence, nice change of pace.
Haven't mentioned yet I don't think, but I love your signature, very loose and swoopy.
Yes, I do try to combine and make something semi-original. Sometimes I watch the games on tv, or (my preference) I like to go to games early and watch practices (so you can get close) and sketch out some basic outlines. Then, I'll normally take a photo and finish filling in the details/features.
Or sometimes I just draw from photos.

(As for my signature, thanks! I haven't really found one particular way to write it, so it varies in every pictures I think. )
